NEZAR was having just his fourth race for Dean Ivory yesterday at Wolverhampton and the well-backed 11/4 second favourite obliged by 1 1/4 lengths over 6f.
The 6yo son of Mastercraftsman is not always the most consistent of animals but he had been a close second last time out at Kempton when beaten a neck. Despite going up 3lbs, he built upon his last good effort and although hanging his head a little awkwardly in the straight, he ran out a convincing winner.
This was Dean’s eighth winner of the year while for Robert Winston, for whom this was his only ride of the day, it was his 16th of the campaign. The Harper Lodge Farm horses seem in good order and 25% of the individual horses Dean has run in 2017 have been winners.
