Villette – cost just 5,500 guineas

VILLETTE made her debut for Dean Ivory yesterday in a five-runner mile and a half median auction maiden, went off the 20/1 outsider and sluiced home by six lengths!

The 3yo daughter of Sixties Icon out of a Spinning World mare, was always fairly handy and after being shaken up two furlongs from home, quickened up nicely and went past the leaders with consummate ease under Luke Morris, for whom this was a spare ride.

Purchased for just 5,500 guineas in December of last year, this Jeremy Noseda cast-off is looking an extremely well bought filly and she looks to have a bright future ahead of her.  As the two horses she beat, Red Caravel and Arkadian Empire are rated 72 and 76 respectively, she’s unlikely to be given too generous a handicap mark.

On the plus side, Dean’s horses are rarely revved up first time out and usually progress with age and experience.  There’s no doubting, she’s a very useful addition to Harper Lodge Farm for 2017!
