Twilight Son filly pulling clear of older horse

SOLARIO RACING’S two-year-olds are progressing very nicely at Harper Lodge Farm and I was impressed with their work on the gallops yesterday morning.

We bought two youngsters, a colt and a filly, both of which were bought at Tattersalls  Book 3 last October.  The filly by dual Group One winner, Twilight Son, is a “very nice,  athletic filly, well grown and impressive,” not my words but those of Newmarket Equine Hospital vet, David Dugdale, who vetteD the yearlings before they were purchased.

The half-sister to four winners, including last year’s 85-rated 2yo, Sir Maxi, has been a quick learner and she displays a lovely willing, competitive attitude.  Yesterday she did a good piece of work upsides an older horse under jockey George Downing and she pulled well clear of her galloping companion by the end of the piece of work.  George was delighted with the work and said “she’s the best two-year-old I’ve sat on down her.”

The pedigree screams sprinting as she’s by Twilight Son (winner of the Haydock Sprint Cup and The Diamond Jubilee, both Group Ones) and is out a proven Bahamian mare, Winifred Jo.  The filly has been for a Barrier Trial and one racecourse gallop and she’ll probably go for another racecourse gallop before she makes her debut in around four weeks’ time.

The other juvenile is a chestnut gelding by Group One Classic winning sire, Tamayuz out of a winning Pivotal mare, Pin Cushion and is a half brother to three winners, including 6yo Lethal Lunch, rated 92.  He is a “strong individual with a good size and plenty of substance” who has “good conformation.”  Again, these were the words of David Dugdale.

He did a nice upsides canter with another juvenile, Thomas Equinas.  Both two-year-olds went nicely but the Solario Racing youngster under Sophie Ralston was on top at the end of the gallop.

Both two-year-olds are available for syndication, the “Twilight Son” in quarter shares and the “Tamayuz” in 1/12th shares.  If you would like to get involved in shared ownership, why not come and visit Harper Lodge Farm Stables and see the horses work for yourself?  Please contact the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 or email to arrange a no-obligation visit.
