Tropics – runs at Windsor tonight after 660-day absence

TROPICS runs in Windsor’s feature race tonight, the 6f Listed contest at 7.25pm and he is back on the course after 660 days off.

This is clearly a tall order but he won the race two years ago when rated 115 and although the handicapper has dropped him to 111, he is still the second top-rated horse in the race behind the 113-rated Mr Lupton.

The oldest of the eight runners, the 9yo son of Speightstown still has relatively low mileage on the clock with 27 runs to date.  He looks fantastic at home and is in good form and looks good each-way value at 15/2.  The main dangers are joint-favourites, Mr Lupton and Raucous.

Dean runs Angel Of The South earlier on the card in the 6.25, an eight-runner fillies’ novice stakes over 6f.

She disappointed at Ascot a week ago, although that was a hotter contest than this evening.  She was only beaten a neck on her debut last month at Windsor over 5f and if she can improve on her last effot, has sound each-way credentials at 9/2.  Elysium Dream and Cardaw Lily are two of the principal threats.

Robert Winston rides both stable runners.
