LAST week saw just the one runner, Harlequin Storm, who was fourth at Chelmsford but this week is much busier with three runners today at Kempton, starting with Harlequin Striker, in the same colours as last week’s runner.
At 4.30pm, eight go to post for a mile handicap and the 5yo son of Bahamain Bounty is making his all-weather debut after an absence of 168 days. This top-priced 20/1 shot is fairly weak in the market and is sure to come on for the run. The favourite, The Warrior has the form to go close for Amanda Perrett.
Second up for Dean is all-weather champion, Tangramm in a 1m4f handicap. If he wins off today’s mark of 82, that will be a career best but he may not have stopped improving yet and ran well to be third last time out. At 4/1, he has good each-way credentials.
Finally, Nezar makes his third appearance for the yard in a 6f handicap. Drawn wide, 10 of 12, the 6yo Mastercraftsman gelding needs to improve on his last two efforts and is weak at 20/1 for Robert Winston, who rides all three today.
