FIGHTING TEMERAIRE and FLAMING SPEAR both head to York today for the lucky last, a 19-runner 0-95 7f handicap, due off at 4.10pm.
Not only will they have travelled up together, they are berthed next to each other in stalls with the mount of Joey Haynes, Flaming Spear in stall three and Temeraire, with George Downing on board, in four.
The Tony Bloom-owned Flaming Spear is well handicapped but has lost his way of late and needs to bounce back after a disappointing run in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot. He would ideally prefer some cut in the ground.
Fighting Temeraire on the other hand goes to York on the back of last time out all-weather win at 33/1 at Lingfield. He’s drifted out to 22/1 but like his stablemate, has been rated higher in the past and looks overpriced.
