CHILDWICKBURY STUD, one of Britain’s most historic stud farms, dating back to 1888, is currently home to Solario Racing’s two yearlings and both are positively thriving.
Set in 230 acres of large post and rail paddocks and located just outside St Albans in Hertfordshire, it has over 100 stables, large loose barns, lunging rings, a horse walker and all the amenities a 21st century stud needs.
The Twilight Son filly and Tamayuz colt, purchased at Tattersalls in October were sent straight to Childwickbury Stud after the sales and have now been under the care of Stud Manager, Max Weston and his team for seven weeks.
The filly, which is being syndicated in 1/4 shares, was bred by Max and was born at the stud, so it truly is home from home for the half-sister to four winners, including 2yo Sir Maxi, rated 85. She had some down time after the sales but is now being broken in and has had a roller on and been long reined.
I first saw her as a foal at last year’s Solario Racing Childwickbury Stud visit in July on what was the hottest day of the year. Nicknamed “Twinkle” by the team, she was extraordinarily friendly for a three-month old foal. Some 17 months down the line, she’s really blossomed and has a touch of spirit about her which is what one wants to see in a future racehorse.
The Tamayuz colt, which is being syndicated in 1/12th shares, has also benefitted from post-sales down time. He’s now on the walker and will start to do a bit more during the coming weeks. To quote David Dugdale, a Partner at Newmarket Equine Hospital, who vetted him at the sales, he’s a “strong individual with a good size and plenty of substance. Good conformation. Vets well (5/5).”
Both yearlings will stay at the stud until the New Year and now lockdown two is over, Solario Racing is delighted to host private viewings for both yearlings. Please call the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 or email email@example.com to arrange a suitable day, Mondays – Saturdays.
