SOLARIO RACING struck on the first day of Tattersalls Book 3 Yearling Sale purchasing a lovely, strong-looking chestnut son of dual Group One winner, Tamayuz for 22,000 guineas.
Having looked at over 80 yearlings during yesterday and today, a short-list was drawn up and high up on the list was this imposing, free-moving individual who has plenty of quality about him. He was well prepared by The National Stud, vetted well and the question was would we get him for the right price? I am delighted to say we did!
The horse not only has the required good conformation but a lovely pedigree on both the sire and dam’s side.
Tamayuz was bred by Shadwell Estate, owned by Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and was trained by Freddie Head in France. He was a top-class miler at three years of age, winning two Group Ones in France, the Jean Prat at Chantilly and the Jacques Le Marois at Deauville. At stud, he has sired the winners of over 500 races and over £10.25 million in prize money. He is a Classic sire, having sired French 1000 Guineas winner, Precieuse while his most recent Group One winner is last year’s Lockinge winner, Mustashry.
The dam, Pin Cushion, trained by Brian Meehan, won over 7f, was rated 79 and has produced three winners from three runners, including five-time winner Lethal Lunch, who has got better with age. The 5yo grey was rated 98 earlier this year. All three winners won at two years of age.
There is plenty of black type on the dam’s side including the granddam, seven times winner Frizzante being a Group One July Cup winner. The family includes dual Group One winner, Donna Viola.
The colt is going to be syndicated in 1/12th shares and will be in training with Dean Ivory at Radlett and indeed he could already have his first owners on board (see photo).
