STAKE ACCLAIM WILL LIKE THE GROUND

Stake Acclaim - will like the ground at Goodwood

Stake Acclaim – will like the ground at Goodwood

DEAN saddles two in today’s Stewards’ Cup (3.35pm) on the last day of Glorious Goodwood, Lancelot Du Lac and Stake Acclaim and the latter, the mount of Robert Winston will certainly relish the soft conditions underfoot.

Both horses are big double figure prices and both are drawn in the middle next to eachother in stalls 14 and 15 respectively.  Stake Acclaim hacked up at Windsor by four lengths when there was plenty of give in the ground last month and while he needs to improve to win such a competitive race, connections have always regarded the son of Acclamation as a horse with more to give.

Lancelot Du Lac, may be better on the all-weather but he was second in the Wokingham two years ago, beaten 2 1/4 lengths and is now four pounds lower.  He has form on soft ground and has the assistance of a certain Lanfranco Dettori!

It’s a big ask for both horses but both should run their race but the very well handicapped Sir Dancelot, the mount of Ryan Moore, looks a danger to all.
