STAKE ACCLAIM, who has been running creditably this season without winning, would dearly love to see some rain today before turning out at Windsor in the 7.40, a 6f handicap.
The going is currently Good to Firm, Good in Places but there is some rain forecast late afternoon which would help the 89-rated sprinter get his toe in under Robert Winston.
Last time out at Newmarket, he was second, beaten 3/4 length but he’s gone up three pounds for his trouble and is now 4lbs higher than his last winning mark. The headgear has been left off and the horse is weak in the betting at 11/1.
Dean also runs Eljaddaaf in the same race with Jack Duern in the saddle, claiming three pounds and the six-times winner on the all-weather is only rated a pound lower than Stake Acclaim. At 33/1, he is the outsider of the 11-strong party in what is a very competitive sprint.
If the rains come, Stake Acclaim would have an each-way chance but otherwise, both horses look to face uphill tasks.
