STAKE ACCLAIM LOOKS THE ONE IN PORTLAND

Stake Acclaim - in good form this season

Stake Acclaim – in good form this season

THE stable runs two in the Portland Handicap, the opener on St Leger day at Donny (1.50pm) with Stewards’ Cup victor, Lancelot Du Lac and Shergar Cup winner, Stake Acclaim and the latter might just be the one to follow.

He has had his best ever season and is really thriving at present with recent form figures, 2126013 and his last time out third at Windsor, when he raced alone on the stands’ rail, has worked out well.  At a top price 12/1, he could be the pick of the Harper Lodge duo under Robert Winston.

Lancelot Du Lac does have one of the world’s best jockeys aboard however in Frankie Dettori and as at Glorious Goodwood, he is a big price at 20/1.  If he can put his last run at York behind him, he could run well but Stake Acclaim is on an upward curve.

Dean also runs Higgy’s Heartbeat, in the 5.25 at Lingfield, a 12-runner handicap over 7 1/2 furlongs and under the in-form Jack Duern, he might just be worth an each-way look at around 12/1.
