SPRING ROMANCE steps into new territory tomorrow when running over a mile at Windsor in a 0-67 handicap for three-year-olds and upwards, due off at 5.30pm.
A five-times winner over 5-6f, this is the first time has raced beyond 6f and the 33% increase in distance should hopefully see him travel better in the race than he has done during his last few outings. His pedigree screams sprinting but physically he is not the epitome of a sprinter, so it will be interesting to see how he fares.
Solario Racing is hoping for the horse, who has lost his way a little, to regain some confidence. Sophie Ralston rides the 5yo son of Zebedee, who currently trades at around 16/1. It’s a very competitive handicap and major players include Furqaan, I’m Digby, Limelighter and Black Medick.
The stable has a much brighter chancer of a winner with Yimou, 90 minutes later at 7pm in a 5f handicap. He won over course and distance last time out, appreciating the drop down to the minimum distance and although 3lbs higher, he should be competitive and not be far away. George Downing rides while Sophie Ralston rides stablemate, Tropics, a 20/1 outsider in the same race.
Even on revised better terms, Tropics should struggle to turn the tables and Yimou looks a solid each-way proposition at 4/1 with Free Love looking one of the principal dangers.
