REVIEW OF THE WEEK: THIRDITIS STRIKES YARD!

A touch of thirditis for Dean Ivory

THIRDITIS struck the yard with a vengeance last week with five of the nine runners in third place!

Tangramm, Harlequin Storm and Jack The Laird were all third at Wolves last Monday but the eye-catcher was Harlequin Storm, making his racecourse debut.  Green in the preliminaries, he ran a really nice race at 25/1 and with the usual improvement, should soon pick up a race.

Eljaddaaf, despite being hiked 12lbs for his admittedly facile 4l win at Kempton, ran a stormer to be beaten half a length at Chelmsford off his highest ever mark of 89.

The other third place went to Lucymai at Chelmsford, who is beginning to show some of her old form, having been third in her previous run at Kempton.

Cheltenham fever is gathering ever momentum and while Thistlecrack is a worthy ante-post favourite, if you’re on Native River each-way at fancy prices, your chances were done no harm after his easy 3 1/4 length win at the week end in the Denman Chase.

Sizing John also entered the picture after his win in the Stan James Irish Gold Cup Chase at Leopardstown yesterday.
