NO doubting the highlight of last week was the stable double at Lingfield on Saturday courtesy of Lancelot Du Lac and Varsovian, both ridden by Robert Winston.
Lancelot, who was winning his sixth out of his last seven all-weather starts, is in the form of his life but this was his first victory in a Listed race and thoroughly deserved. The Shamardal gelding has now won 10 out of 43 races and just short of £1/4 million in prize money.
Varsovian, 6lbs below his last winning mark, was expected to run a big race and duly did, running out a comfortable 3/4 length winning favourite, to record his seventh career win at a strike rate of 28%.
The stable sent out six runners last week and apart from the two winners, Lucymai was a creditable second in a 7f Kempton handicap.
