REVIEW OF THE WEEK: I’M RUNNING LATE’S SURPRISE WIN

I'm Running Late - winner at Lingfield

I’m Running Late – winner at Lingfield

I’M RUNNING LATE was somewhat of a surprise winner on just his third start when running away with a 1m2f Maiden Auction at Lingfield on Wednesday by three and a half lengths.

The son of Sepoy had been fairly well beaten on his first two starts but the drop to 1m2f seemed to help and he came with a late surging run under Pat Cosgrave to win easily at 8/1.  It will be interesting to see what the handicapper makes of it but there should be plenty more improvement to come.

Badenscoth, winner at Kempton in April, ran a fine race on his turf debut when coming second under Jack Duern, beaten just half a length.  Lucymai was second when favourite at Chelmsford while the yard had another third with  Hello Girl at Kempton.

From nine runners last week, the stable recorded two fourths (Varsovian and Bobby Vee) to go with the win and three seconds, so it would appear the yard is on an upward curve.
