DEAN ran just six horses last week but with two seconds and a third, there were signs that the horses are running rather better than earlier in the month.
Wotadoll, making her handicap debut at Yarmouth, nearly sprang an 18/1 surprise under stable apprentice, Jack Duern, when beaten a neck. At the same meeting, Jack was third on Higgy’s Heartbeat at 28/1 and fifth on Jack The Laird.
Stake Acclaim at last had the soft conditions he needs to be seen at his best and ran well under Robert Winston to be second at Newmarket on Saturday, beaten just half a length by the favourite, Paddy Power.
The other two runners, Eljaddaaf and Lifeboat Lad both put disappointing previous runs behind them with much better performances at Newbury on Friday. It would seem the horses are running better and hopefully the winners will start to flow again.
