REVIEW OF THE WEEK: DARK MAGIC WINS AT HQ

Dark Magic - winner at Newmarket

Dark Magic – winner at Newmarket

DARK MAGIC  won at HQ yesterday on just his second outing to give Dean a welcome winner.

He ran a nice race at Windsor on his debut when beaten just 3 1/2 lengths and clearly he had learned plenty from his debut.  Held up by Robert Winston, he was denied a clear run before making headway over a furlong out and ran on to win comfortably by two lengths.

The 3yo son of Invincible Spirit cost 575,000 guineas as a yearling but didn’t race at two and was purchased at the sales for just £14,000 at Ascot sales last December.  He’s looking money well spent for Heather and Michael Yarrow!

Dean only had six other runners, the best of whom was Tropics, running over 5f for the first time and he acquitted himself well, coming fourth, beaten five lengths.  While not the force of old, he still has plenty of ability and there could well be another win in him this season.
