REVIEW OF THE WEEK: AMBER ONE TO WATCH

Dean Ivory - plenty to look forward to in 2017

Dean Ivory – plenty to look forward to in 2017

IN a quiet week for the stable, GOLDEN AMBER, not unfancied in this column to go close in a competitive 6f sprint on the second day of the turf season at Donny, finished the way of all each-way selections in 16+ runner-handicaps….5th!

But as the saying goes….this could be money lent.  The Holy Roman Emperor mare was only beaten 1 1/2 lengths and she is seemingly well handicapped.  She could be one to watch in the near future.

The two other runners, Badenscoth and I’m Running Late, will be better off in handicaps.

Those of you who follow handicap ratings may be interested to know impressive first time up winner, Villette, has been rated 80.  I thought she would be in the low 80s and if she improves for racing, could be well handicapped.

Finally, the new indoor school has been completed and is proving a real asset to the stables.  The horses and riders have taken to it very well and it will prove a real boon to Dean and the team in our often inclement weather!

The new turf season kicked off on Saturday…Dean has plenty to look forward to in 2017…and so do his owners!
