STAKE ACCLAIM oh so nearly capped a really good season with another big pot, when just run out of it at Haydock on Saturday, beaten a short head at Haydock in the 32Red Cold Cup (Heritage Handicap).

He relished the heavy going under Jack Duern but unfortunately after leading a furlong out, he wandered a little in front which probably cost him and he was headed near the line.  Nevertheless, it was still over £16k second prize and edged Dean closer to the £500k mark for the season.

Nezar was also second, this time at Goodwood and again he took it up but was headed near the line to deny Robert Winston another winner.

These were the highlights of the nine runners during the week although, Eirene was a creditable fifth in the Group One Cheveley Park.
