MIMRAM ran a cracker at Chelmsford sixteen days ago when runner-up, beaten just three-quarters of a length and she is bidding to go one better today in the opener at Lingfield (2.10pm).
Last time she was running against older horses but today she’s in a 3yo only handicap and particularly if given an uncontested lead, she could be hard to peg back under Robert Winston. Last time was over 7f in a 0-50 while today is a mile in a 0-60 but if she runs up to her last run, she shouldn’t be far way. Surprisingly, she is on the drift, out to 9/2 but last time she was a 12/1 shot, so her price shouldn’t deter her performance! Unfortunately, for each-way backers, there are two non-runners leaving just a field of seven. Favourite and top-weight, Solid Man looks a threat.
The stable has a chance of a double with the most admirable of animals, Eljaddaaf, running in the 3.50, a 0-90 over 7f. He has a bad draw to overcome (14 of 14) and is on a career high mark of 92. Most of his winning has been over 6f but he’s the class act in the field and the way he was going away last time out at Chelmsford, having been held up, suggests the trip won’t be a problem. The price of 10/1 reflects the negative factors but it still looks a fair each-way price in an open contest where they go 6/1 the field. Robert Winston rides.
