OLIVE MABEL runs in the 6.30 at Chelmsford tonight,a 7f handicap and having finished behind The Night King, beaten 4 1/2 lengths at the Essex track last month, she needs to improve to finish in front of her rival tonight.
The Jack Duern-ridden filly is six pounds better off but even that is strictly not enough to turn the tables. However, Olive Mabel was having her first run in a handicap and her first run for 190 days and she should come on for that outing. The drop from a mile to seven furlongs should suit also.
The Captain Gerard filly, rated 56, wouldn’t be the quickest in the yard but she should be capable of showing something in this grade, a Class 6 0-65 handicap. Whether she’s worth betting at 8/1 is a moot point! The favourite, Frebe Rocks, is very solid at 13/8.
