LULU STANFORD and Secret Bird are favourites to win the 7.15 at Chelmsford tonight and so land the hat trick.
The pair have defied bad draws at Chelmsford and Wolverthampton to win handicaps over 6f and 5f in November and December respectively and in another sprint over the minimum distance, drawn six, they are a short price at 5/4 to win again. They should go very close.
Dean Ivory has three runners tonight on the polytrack and first off at 6.45pm is Lancelot Du Lac, who is 5/2 jointfavourite to defy a 187-day absence and win the seven-runner Class 2 Handicap over 5f.
He may be a little ring rusty but the course and distance winner is well handicapped and should give a good account under Robert Winston, who has won three times on the Shamardal gelding. The well-supported Dr Sardonicus may prove his main danger.
Finally, in the lucky last at 8.15pm, Firmdecisions should appreciate the drop back to 7f. However, he is very weak in the market, at 25/1, three times his predicted Racing Post price. Then again, he doesn’t know his price and at those odds, the top-weight might be worth an each-way look. Robert Winston rides. Strong Challenge and Take The Helm look the principal threats.
