LIBRISA BREEZE ran an absolute stormer yesterday at Royal Ascot in the Group One Diamond Jubilee Stakes when fourth, beaten just 2 1/4 lengths.
The 5yo son of Mount Nelson had been off the track since Champions Day last October, an absence of 267 days. He was also running over 6f, a trip short of his best as he showed in two high class handicaps over 7f at Ascot last year, The International and the totescoop6 Challenge Cup.
He needs holding up which Robert Winston did but one needs the breaks and they didn’t come soon enough. This is what the Racing Post had to say:
“Librisa Breeze, who does like this course, was solid in the market considering it was his first outing of the year. He was a little unlucky not have had more of a say at the finish as he got hampered in between the final two furlongs when winding up for his challenge. Reverting to easier ground wouldn’t go amiss and there should be a big one in him this year.”
