LANCELOT DU LAC bids for back-to-back victories in the Listed Cleves Stakes today at Lingfield (2pm).
One of twelve runners in the ultra competitive six furlong contest, he is rated 107, the same as last year and like last year, has horses rated above him, so he will not find it easy. However, he is well drawn in three and has the assistance of Robert Winston, who was the successful jockey aboard the stable winner last season.
The 110-rated Kachy is the 2/1 favourite and is a worthy favourite but is badly drawn in 11. Other dangers would be the Ryan Moore-ridden Double Up (drawn 1) and old foe, Kimberella (drawn 5). Lance has been supported into 13/2 and he does have each-way claims although last year’s win came on the back of a victory a month previously. This year, he has an absence of 140 days to overcome.
