ROYAL ASCOT is into its fourth day of top level racing but there is racing elsewhere including at Bath where Dean introduces Hugs And Pats in the 7.50, a 5f maiden auction stakes.
Only five go to post including the odds-on favourite Autumn Lodge, who has run five times, been placed three times and who was beaten 10 1/2 lengths in this week’s Windsor Castle at the royal meeting.
This is not a great maiden and could to one of the three newcomers which includes Hugs And Pats, a gelded son of Big Bad Bob. He is bred to get much further but does hold a couple of sales race entries.
Nevertheless, he has drifted hugely in the market all day from 2/1 to 3/1, so confidence cannot be high.
It’s probably not a race to get involved with but Hugs And Pats is probably overpriced and might be worth a speculative bet. Robert Winston rides.
