THE lovely, strong yearling filly by Wootton Bassett was only purchased a week ago and already the first quarter share has been sold!
The new owners came up to see the set-up at Harper Lodge Farm during the summer but there were no shares available but they liked what they saw and remained in touch. Yesterday, they came to Childwickbury Stud to see Solario Racing’s exciting new filly.
Bought late into the evening last Thursday, the filly, a third foal out of a winning Teofilo mare, arrived early on Friday morning from Newmarket and she has settled in really well. She had a photo-session on Tuesday and was very well behaved, posing like a true professional. Yesterday, she was led out and just as she did at the sales, walked out in a really relaxed, easy going manner.
Her pedigree is excellent on both sides of the family. Wootton Bassett won five races from 6 to 7 furlongs including the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere-Grand Criterium at Longchamp. He was the joint 3rd top rated 2yo in Europe in 2010 and the champion 2yo colt in France in the same year.
The dam, Nickels And Dimes, won a race over one mile, one and half furlongs at three and was placed five times from just eight starts. Her first foal went on to win twice as a juvenile and was rated 93! The pedigree is chock a block full of two-year-old winners and this filly has the breeding and physique to follow suit by running at two and then progressing as a three-year-old.
During the next few weeks, the filly will stay at the stud for breaking in and then she’ll go to Harper Lodge Farm into full training.
