EIRENE JUSTIFIES FAVOURITISM AT DONNY FOR IVORY

Eirene - wins at second attempt

Eirene – wins at second attempt

EIRENE, an eye-catching third on her debut at Yarmouth earlier in the month went two better yesterday at Doncaster to justify favouritism in a 6f fillies’ novice by a length under Robert Winston for Dean Ivory and owner Michael Yarrow

The daughter of Declaration Of War cost 85,000 guineas as a foal and although the soft ground was an unknown, she handled it well, although would probably prefer better going.

Held up in touch, she made good progress two out and made her way home approaching the final furlong to win nicely by a length.  Although the runner-up met trouble in running and was arguably a little unlucky, Eirene was still green and there should be more to come.

Congratulations to Michael Yarrow who puts plenty into the game and who looks to have a nice filly on his hands.
