DON’T LOOK DOWN, the new addition to Solario Racing, is starting to find his feet at Harper Lodge Farm, judging by how he cantered in the outside ring yesterday!
I went up to see him go through his paces and Dimitris Myolonas, who has been riding him since he arrived last Wednesday, was again on board. The handsome grey, who stands at a very high 16:2hh, walked, trotted and then cantered.
The colt was very steady at the walk and trot but when Dimitris asked for canter, he suddenly exploded into life! The son of 2006 French 2000 Guineas winner, Aussie Rules, out of a Rainbow Quest mare, was raring to go and displayed a very competitive urge to get on with things!
He threw in the odd buck, kicking out against the rail which prompted the trainer’s father, a certain Mr Ken Ivory to observe: “The invoice will be in the post for the damage to the rail.” In fact no damage was done but there was no doubting the enthusiasm of Don’t Look Down, who looks to have all the attributes of what Dean Ivory has called, “a proper horse.”
The colt has a lovely pedigree, being by a very good dual Group One winning miler out of a Rainbow Quest mare, who has thrown up three winners from six runners, including the full-brother, Tenzing Norgay, who won three times last year as a three-year-old. The family goes back to those very good Group winners, Asian Heights, St Expedit and Andreyev.
Don’t Look Down is being syndicated in 1/12th shares and there has already been a lot of interest in the colt. If you would like to come and see him going through his paces at Harper Lodge Farm, please call Solario Racing Manager, Simon Double on 01442 877 597 or email [email protected].
