DON’T LOOK DOWN, the new 2yo acquisition by Solario Racing, purchased at Tattersalls on Tuesday, arrived home on Wednesday and is settling in very nicely at Harper Lodge Farm.
It’s a different environment from Newmarket where some 3,000 horses are trained and often queue up to go on to the gallops but this handsome 16:2hh son of Aussie Rules seems to be enjoying the quieter surroundings of Dean Ivory’s 115-acre private stables.
I was at the yard yesterday to see him being ridden, first in the lunging ring and then in the outdoor trotting ring and he’s taken to his new home in Hertfordshire very well. Of course, it’s all different and I could tell he was just feeling his way but there were no antics or shows of bravado.
Ridden by Dimitris Mylonas, a former jockey, who rode winners in the UK and in Dubai, he walked and trotted around the large outdoor trotting ring and looked very professional and at ease with himself. The colt is not only big but a beautifully proportioned horse and he has the physical presence to go with it. Dimitris was very pleased with how he went.
After exercise, it was time for a formal photo-shoot and again, Don’t Look Down behaved like a seasoned pro. He posed beautifully with Dimitris on board and then it was time for him to be stood up like a yearling and again, he went about his job in a very professional manner.
Don’t Look Down is being syndicated in 1/12th shares and there has been a lot of interest already. Indeed, a prospective owner is coming to see him next Monday. If you would like to come and see him go through his paces, please call the Solario Racing office on 01442 877 597 or email [email protected].
