DARK MAGIC INTERESTING DESPITE WEAK IN BETTING

Dark Magic – runs at Newbury

DARK MAGIC is an interesting stable runner in the 4.35 at Newbury today as he has won one of his two career starts, including last time out and he’ll like the soft going.  However, he is perhaps surprisingly rather weak in the betting, having drifted out to 12/1.

One of 14 runners in this 0-90 handicap for 3yos+ over 6f, the son of Invincible Spirit cost 575,000 guineas as a yearling but was bought by his present owner, Michael Yarrow for just 14,000 guineas at Ascot last December.  Already rated 81, there is surely more to come.

The hot favourite is the strongly fancied Alaadel from the Willie Haggas yard and he is sure to go close.  However, Dark Magic looks overpriced and has an each-way shout under Robert Winston.
