DEAN sends out three today, two in the same race at Wolverhampton and one at Windsor and he might have a winner at the Midlands track, courtesy of Cappananty Con.
He saddles two in the 6.50, Cappananty and Varsovian but it is the former which catches the eye on form and in the market. Thirteen go to post for the 6f handicap and the 3yo grey, the mount of Robert Winston has a good draw in two and he should go close at around 7/2. Varsovian, who has the assistance of John Fahy (on Roman Legion tomorrow at Yarmouth) has more to prove and is weak in the market at 22/1. Favourite Treat is badly drawn in 10 but this last time out winner could pose a threat.
At Windsor, Solario Racing’s Spring Romance is one of five runners in the 5f maiden, due off at 6.05pm. Physically, the 2yo son of Zebedee is still weak and he has not shown translated his good work at home in two previous runs at Windsor, over 5f and then 6.
Today, he’s dropping back to 5f which should suit but this is his third run for a handicap mark and it would take a huge leap of faith to think the 28/1 shot could spring a surprise and beat the three market leaders, Dream Prospect, City Guest and Global Academy. Jack Duern rides Spring Romance, taking off three pounds.
Good luck to Solario Racing (Berkhamsted)!
