BADENSCOTH had certainly read the script for his owner/breeder Peter J Skinner as he won at Kempton today with his owner present, in between international travel engagements.

Peter spends much of his time away from the UK but was over for a brief stay and his and Badenscoth’s timing was perfect as indeed was stable jockey Jack Duern’s as the pair came from last to first to win on the horse’s handicap debut for trainer, Dean Ivory.

Running in a first time hood off a mark of 61, the 3yo son of Foxwedge was settled at the back over the mile trip but made sweeping progress in the home straight to win by three-quarters of a length, much to the delight of a rather bemused and almost speechless Peter J Skinner!

There were smiles all round for the owner/breeder, trainer and stable jockey.  Dean was thrilled to train a winner for Peter’s first horse in training at Harper Lodge Farm, especially as he was on hand to see his 12/1 shot win.

I suspect we haven’t heard the last of Badenscoth!
