DEAN IVORY sends out his first 2yo of the season when Angel Of The South contests the opener at Windsor today, an 11-runner novice stakes over 5f, due off at 2pm.
The daughter of Dark Angel cost £170,000 as a yearling and is easily the most expensive horse in today’s line-up. She has plenty of ability and has been working well. None of today’s runners have raced before, so there is absolutely no form to go on. However, if she translates her homework onto the track, she has an each-way chance at 7/1. Dangers include Richard Hannon’s Lethal Lunch and David Evans’ Give Em A Clump, who is solid in the market.
Whatever the filly does today, she will improve and is well regarded by the team at home.
Dean also runs Soaring Spirits in the handicap at 5pm over 1m 1/2 furlong. Although a course distance winner, most of the Tamayuz gelding’s recent wins have been over six and seven furlongs. Weak in the market at 25/1, the 7yo may be best watched today.
Robert Winston is aboard both horses, as he is on Red Cossack in the 1m2f handicap at 3pm. Good luck to Solario Racing owner, Gwen Thomas, who has the horse in training with Paul Webber.
