Spring Romance and Don’t Look Down owners gathered in force at the fabulous Sauté Grill & Meze Restaurant in St Albans to reminisce over the last year over a four course lunch as the wine flowed.
Unlike last year when the heavy snowfall took its toll on attendance, the weather was kinder and twenty-five owners and guests turned up for an afternoon which started with a traditional glass of fizz before another tradition, the Solario Racing quiz tested the ol’ grey matter!
A written quiz comprising fifteen racing questions with 30 points up for grabs kept owners relatively quiet during the early stages of lunch as they divided up into teams to try and win the first prize, a year’s free racehorse insurance.
The food at Sauté lived up to the usual high standard and there was the traditional Christmas turkey with all the usual festive trimmings and Christmas pudding or one could go down the Turkish route such as Mix Shish and Baklava. Whatever one’s tastes, there was something to suit all palates.
The meal concluded with a cheese board, coffees and digestifs and the results of the Christmas quiz were announced. Solario Racing owners did themselves proud but they were edged out of it by new owners to the yard, Linton Doolan and Brian Edwards who own Shanakill Star.
The Racing Manager made a brief speech highlighting the great year Solario Racing owners had enjoyed with Spring Romance and Don’t Look Down in the prize money in all eleven starts and a big thank you was made to Dean Ivory and the staff.
The new Solario Racing brochure was launched with details of the Garwood yearling, in which there was much interest. If you would like to know more about how to get involved in a syndicate ownership, please call the Racing Office on 01442 877 597 or email email@example.com.
